Gaara never slept, and he watched with jealousy as Naruto easily fell asleep. Knowing he had charge of this group of ninjas, Gaara listened intently. Hinata had just happened to come out to talk to him when Yami reached out in desperation the night before.  He was worried that it would happen again when Hinata wasn't looking, and this worry kept all of his senses in a hightend state. Gaara turned to watch the girls sleep, and saw that Sakura was having problems sleeping. He knew it was because of Shikamaru's neck pain, but didn't  know how to comfort her. Finally, Hinata woke up.

Waking up with a start, Yami looked around. Ino was on watch, jumping at every sound, but that wasn't what had woken her up. She crawled out of the tent, causing Ino to jump even higher, turning around in mid-air. Yami smiled as she watched Ino relax. "Something woke me up," Yami explained unnecessarily, "I wanted to take a look at my surroundings and listen for news from the other camps." Ino waved her on, and Yami took a good look. Seeing nothing, she turned her focus to her sense of hearing. It took awhile, but she finally recognized the sounds of a battle going on in the distance.

Hinata was still stretching when Gaara commanded her to look. She started her Byakugen, immediately looking for Yami. When Hinata finally found her, she was surprised at the calmness she displayed. "Yami can hear a battle in the distance. She's guessing it's Shikamaru's group," Hinata tried to match the calmness she felt from Yami. Sakura's head popped up too quickly, worried about Shikamaru. "Careful!" Hinata gently told her, "Yami said she hasn't heard any cries for help, but will keep an ear out. I'll keep watching Yami for any news." Hinata finished. Gaara and Sakura gestured their approval to her, Sakura relaxing back to a sleeping position, and Hinata kept her eyes on Yami's moldable chakra.

Temari had been waiting for this. She knew the attackers from last night. They wouldn't give up so easily. Instead, they'd attack with a different combination of ninjas. Temari had warned Shikamaru of this, and he had assigned her to work with Neji, should a battle ensue. He would fight with Choji. Temari didn't like Neji very much right then, but relented to Shikamaru's orders. Now that the battle was in full force, she was glad Neji was fighting by her side. She would throw the attackers toward Neji with the wind, and he'd finish them off swiftly. Quickly becoming bored with the fight, Temari watched Choji and
Shikamaru work together.

They moved with a fluency that was almost poetic. Choji would attack a ninja with one or another of his body parts, moving them into range of Shikamaru's shadow jutsu. Shikamaru would grab hold of each new ninja as they came. Soon, there was a pile of about six ninjas struggling to get up at Neji's feet and around ten ninjas caught in Shikamaru's shadow. Temari thought, "that battle was WAY too easy, even though we were prepared for it." she watched as one by one, the ninjas at Neji's feet slowly melted into the earth. Temari grunted, and Shikamaru watched as well. It was funny to see the ten enemy ninjas take Shikamaru's thinking stance with him, but none of his teammates laughed. It was too important to let Shikamaru think before the next wave showed up. Neji watched too, starting his Byakugen again to look for the enemy ninja that were sure to come.

Yami heard the battle come to a standstill, and was listening with baited breath to see who won. She heard Shikamaru say, "We're going to need GHaNS for this." and immediately relayed the message to Hinata. Yami didn't understand why they were traveling in three seperate groups, or why Shikamaru didn't ask for their help. They were closer and could get there faster. She heard somebody kick Naruto awake, then, moments later, heard the sound of ninjas rushing through the forest right over her head.

Yami suddenly felt better and decided to go back to bed. Ino had watched all of Yami's outer actions carefully, and jumped when there was a motion overhead.

"What's going on Yami?" Ino stopped her on her way back, "You know something I don't."

Shikamaru sighed, stood up, and let the shadows go, Choji watching in amazement as they, too, sank into the ground. Shikamaru watched his teammates carefully, and saw them pass out one by one. He knew that they were trapped in ginjutsu, and just waited for his turn. It never came. GHaNS did. Hinata did what Neji couldn't. She pinned down the location of the shadow clone user and silently took him out. Gaara quickly found where the ginjutsu user was hiding, and faced her. "You're going to regret messing with my allies" he challenged.

Sighing, Yami turned around to face her mentor. "You're right. I do know something you don't," Yami declared boldly, "and I don't think it's important for you to know now, so you'll hear about it in the morning report." With that, Yami went to bed. Ino tried to remember what Kiba had told them about Yami, and was suprised to see a pride of lions encircling the camp. They each took a place around the camp, and Yami poked her head out of the tent, "None of us need keep watch anymore." Looking around, Ino realized Yami was right. Nobody was stupid enough to attack a camp gaurded by lions.

Shikamaru tried to watch Naruto take care of the last ninja, but Sakura always seemed to be in his view. Instead of fighting, Sakura checked on his other teammates to make sure they had only passed out, then came directly to Shikamaru. "Lets have another look at that neck, shall we?" Sakura challenged him. Shikamaru just showed her the part that was hurting, and Sakura mended his wound as best she could. It was taking a long time, and she had to concentrate only on Shikamaru's neck, relying on her teammates to keep her safe.

Gaara had gotten himself trapped in a ginjutsu, but he knew it wouldn't be long before Naruto came to join him. Just as he predicted, Naruto entered the ginjutsu moments later. "Where's the last ninja?" Naruto yelled. After Gaara explained, Naruto sat defiantly on the ground, and declared, "I'm not moving from here until we get out of this!"

Gaara found this situation somewhat amusing, and sat down next to Naruto. "Me neither," he challenged. The ginjutsu user was getting bored with the two ninjas just sitting there, no matter what she threw at them, Gaara's sand easily deflected it. She tried to seperate them, but couldn't do that either. she couldn't touch them with her regular jutsu, but she had another trick up her sleeve. Letting them out of the jutsu, she watched as Naruto and Gaara stood back up and faced her, "I'll never forgive you for that!" Naruto declared, "Attacking my friends when they couldn't even see you is just wrong!" All the sudden, there were about twenty Narutos flying at her from his general direction. She easily doged them, turning the clones into a puff of smoke as they passed. She was more worried about Gaara, no matter what she tried, she couldn't touch him. The Naruto clones didn't help her concentrate any. Soon, Naruto had his Resengan ready and charged. "Resengan!" He yelled as he thrust it into her stomach. She flew backwards and Gaara's team went back to their own camp while Shikamaru's team came out of the ginjutsu and contained the three that had attacked them. Naruto's Resengan had shoved the ninjutsu user into Shikamaru's shadow jutsu, and Hinata had placed the shadow clone user in Shikamaru's jutsu as well. The ninja Naruto had taken care of lay almost motionless near Temari, a thousand marks from a kunai all over him.

Hinata was tired. She'd taken up a lot of chakra taking out the shadow clone user, and the whole team wanted to go to bed. When they finally returned to camp, the sun was just peeking over the mountains. "Time for the morning report Hinata," Gaara informed her.

Temari took one look at the ninja by her feet, and decided it wasn't worth it to do anything to him, he'd pass quickly. Instead, she helped Neji and Choji tie up the other two ninjas, leaving them tied to their fallen comrade, and moving far enough away to have a private conversation. "It's actually time for the morning report," Temari informed them, "What are we going to do with them?" She asked, jerking her thumb at the captured ninjas.

Hinata was ready, but it seemed Neji wasn't. Gaara was grumbling, with Sakura trying to calm him down. Naruto was busy being his usual self, but watching Hinata closely for any sign that the morning report was about to come in. When Hinata finally did see the report, Naruto, Gaara, and Sakura all became completely still. Yami was explaining why the report was so late, and Naruto started to figit a bit, waiting anxiously to see how Shikamaru's team had handled the ninjas that were left. As it turned out, Temari and the others had just left the ninjas tied up and they all went on their way.
